Wood Floor Refinishing:
Damage to hardwood floors generally occurs due to the unexpected.
Extended exposure to water from leaks with exterior doors, continuous leaks with radiators, ice maker lines and urine from household pets are common sources for repair. These occurrences can be dealt with properly through repair to assure your floors are provided their original undamaged condition.
Wood Floors Benefits
New wood flooring installations and/or refinishing of existing hardwood floors provide an increase in value and aesthetics for your home. This is not only of particular interest with homeowners thinking of selling but also of equal importance to continuous residency.
Homeowners suffering with asthma have experienced relief through changing their carpeted living quarters to hardwood. Wood floors will not collect the dirt, sand, spills and filth the soles of our shoes carry through everyday traffic.
Therefore when a hardwood floor is cleaned properly...it is CLEAN!
Sanding and refinishing your existing hardwood floors brings back the true beauty of the wood itself. Whatever species of flooring this may be, the color and clear grain is surely rejuvenated. Wear marks and scratches are generally able to be completely removed through sanding.
I MUST ADVISE THOUGH IT IS CRUCIAL TO HAVE A TRUE WOOD FLOORING SPECIALIST PERFORM THIS AS WELL AS INSTALLATIONS!
Too many times have I been called and asked to completely re-sand areas and tighten newly installed jobs other "flooring specialists" have "completed."
It is wise to have wood flooring projects completed ONCE and YOU be astonished! That is how it is supposed to be. The old school quality!
Maintaining Wood Floors
I recommend cleaning hardwood floors with a steamer. I personally clean my own wood floors with a "shark" steamer. There are no chemicals used with this as it is strictly super hot steam which dries rather quickly. I find this important regarding future maintenance to the wood floors.
Maintaining our wood floors is important.
Periodically it is wise to "buff and coat." Upon request I will screen the existing area, preparing the surface for a top coat of finish. This ensures a protective barrier to avoid dirt and moisture from penetrating into the grain of the wood which can cause discoloration.
Heavy scratches will not be removed through this process. Sanding will be required to accomplish this.
Buffing and coating essentially is to continue protection and to supply a fresh look to your wood floor.
